Alka-White Alkaline Mouthwash Tablet

I’m going to start with my favorite product in this box.  Most of my life I never really thought about what was in my toothpaste or mouthwash.  I mean, I wasn’t eating it, so it didn’t really matter, right?  Wrong.  There can be some pretty nasty ingredients in these items and you’re sticking them in your mouth every day.  So I’ve started using better toothpaste and mouthwash full of natural ingredients.  These mouthwash tablets are AWESOME!  First of all, they cut down on waste with their packaging.  Second, they are full of naturally good for your teeth/mouth ingredients like turmeric and coconut oil.  Both of these ingredients help with inflammation and are anti-microbial.  Both great things for your mouth.  They also help whiten your teeth and help with sensitivity.  I’ve noticed a difference in the whiteness of my teeth and this is a product I will definitely keep using.

Delia Organics Creme de la Cream Body Whip

With summer and warm weather right around the corner, it’s time to think about lightening up your moisturizing options.  This body whip is extremely lightweight but still helps your skin stay soft.  I also love the cinnamon sugar scent.  I’ll be using this after long days in the sun to make sure my skin stays hydrated.

100% Pure Blur Bamboo Powder

I was really excited to try out this product.  It is meant to help your face have a smooth and even complexion.  Unfortunately for me, I felt like it really dried out my skin.  They say you can use it over makeup or alone.  I don’t ever wear foundation or heavy makeup, so maybe my bare skin was just a little too sensitive for it.  It did, however, make my complexion very even, so I did like that.

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Cocoa Butter Matte Lipstick

I did LOVE this lipstick from 100% Pure though.  I got the Aubergine shade (it also comes in Cacti and Sahara) and it was great.  The color was nice and rich plus it stayed in place all day even with eating and drinking.  It also did not dry out my lips like some matte lipsticks tend to do.  That might be because it’s made with cocoa butter, shay butter, and vitamin E.  I will definitely keep this for the very few times I wear lipstick!

Angie’s Boom Chica Pop

I always see this in the grocery store but never get it.  Until now.  I got the Sweet & Salty Kettlecorn flavor and I am now addicted.  It’s the perfect balance of salty and sweet plus it’s made with non-GMO popcorn, vegan, and certified gluten-free.

My hair has been a little dry lately (thank you, winter weather), especially the ends. This coconut milk leave in conditioner has been a big help in adding moisture and detangle without weighing my hair down. To use, you simply spray it on wet hair and then style as usual. It’s formulated with coconut oil, coconut fruit extract, macadamia extract and mango seed butter to nourish and strengthen hair.

Hempz Herbal Body Moisturizer– $7.30 value
I’ve discovered Hempz lotion through the Vegan Beauty Box, and I’ve become a big fan. It’s sooths my dry skin and helps with the rough patches on my knees and elbows. This sensitive skin formula is free of added fragrance and dyes, which I really appreciate, because some scents can give me a headache. Enriched with pure hemp oil and plant extracts, it’s helping to revive and rejuvenate my tired skin.

BaeBlu Eyeliner– $12.99 value
This smudge-proof pencil eyeliner glides on smoothly and stays put for all-day wear. It’s highly pigmented and creates instant definition. Made with natural ingredients such as jojoba and castor oils, it’s free from the harmful ingredients you’ll find in other cosmetics, such as parabens and formaldehyde.

Crazy Rumors Mystery Flavor Lip Balm– $3.50 value
I love all the creative flavors that Crazy Rumors creates. I’ve been using this “mystery flavor” for a week now, but I still can’t put my finger on what I’m tasting. It’s a little fruity, a little sweet, and a whole lot of yummy. It reminds me a little bit of bubble gum, but it has a hint of berry to it. Crazy Rumors lip balms are made with organic shea butter as well as plant oils and waxes. Of course, they never contain any beeswax, which seems to be so prevalent in lip balms.

Shero Science Gentle Milky Gel Cleanser– $5.00 value
This silky-smooth cleanser removes dirt and makeup without stripping the skin of moisture. It was created in partnership with a dermatologist and formulated especially for dry and combination skin. It contains vitamins E and B5, to replenish and heal dry, damaged skin. My dry, sensitive skin has loved it! My face feels silky smooth after washing with it.

PiperWai Natural Deodorant– $2.50 value
I’m a sweater. I can work up a sweat sitting still in a chilly room. So, deodorants are always a must for me. Natural deodorants don’t always do the trick, as I can often smell myself after a few hours, and the baking soda that so many of them use irritates my sensitive skin. While this deodorant does contain sodium bicarbonate, I haven’t experienced any irritation, thankfully. It also contains witch hazel and charcoal, so it’s kept me dry and stink-free! It’s free of the aluminum, parabens, and synthetic fragrances that so many other deodorants contain. To use, you just rub a pea-sized amount under each arm.

Ellovi Ginger Lemon Lip Butter
I received this ginger lemon lip balm in my Beauty Box a while ago, and I’ve recently finished it, so I’m happy to receive another, especially after dealing with dry lips all winter. It’s made with just six ingredients – sunflower, macadamia, Hawaiian coconut, African shea, lemon, & ginger – and it has kept my lips hydrated all day.

Gleam Lip Radiance by Melanie Mills
This long-lasting gloss is another Beauty Box fan favorite. It’s infused with natural botanicals to help improves lip texture while adding color. It’s made with a blend of natural ingredients including Vitamin E, jojoba oil, and aloe vera. It’s formulated to prevent feathering, and it doesn’t feel sticky on the skin.

Let’s get to what was in the Love Goodly Dec/Jan Box box:

Sylveco Soothing Eye Cream – I’m going to start with my favorite product in the box.  I turned 31 in October and I’m starting to notice a few more fine lines that don’t just disappear with a shower in the morning.  I had started to look into eye creams and actually ran across Sylveco.  I liked that it was hypoallergenic and fragrance-free.  Luckily, I didn’t quite jump the gun because a few weeks later I got my Love Goodly box with this eye cream!  It is even better than I thought.  The cream isn’t greasy and it absorbs fast.  I put it on at night and wake up with younger looking eyes.  I know that sounds impossible, but it’s totally true.  This is a product I will definitely buy again.

Sylveco Soothing Eye Cream– Put this product in the category of “Didn’t Know I Needed Until I Used It”.  This quick fix spray is to help fight breakouts when you can’t wash your face after a workout or other sweaty endeavor.  It is made with simple ingredients such as witch hazel, tea tree oil, and lavender essential oil.  Usually, after I workout, I have to get right back to work and don’t get to shower right away.  I’ve noticed I get a little acne right along my hairline and jaw and didn’t realize it was because I was letting sweat and bacteria sit on my face.  Come on, Katie, wise up.  Thankfully a few spritzes of this spray and those bumps have started to go away.  I’ve even started spraying a little on my face right when I wake up.

ZSkin Pumped Lash Primer – I am lucky enough to have pretty long eyelashes, so I didn’t think this lash primer would do much for me.  It is made with ingredients to help your lashes grow longer and stronger, plush thicker.  I started using it and didn’t really notice much difference in growth BUT it does help my mascara stay in place longer, which is a definite boost.  If you struggle with short or thin lashes, this might be a great product for you.  But even if you don’t have that issue, it is a great primer for mascara.

Bee Magical Save the Bees Bracelet – I always love when my Love Goodly Box includes something fun like this bracelet.  This piece was made exclusively for Love Goodly and it’s made entirely of recycled materials.  Bee Magical is helping raise awareness for bees and trying to secure a safe future for these important creatures.

This box is all about getting ready for fall and I have to say it was a pretty good one.

Balanced Guru – Balanced Scalp Treatment 
Did you know that the real secret to healthy hair is a healthy scalp?  True story.  Unfortunately, most of us tend to ignore that part of our hair and then wonder why our locks never look as good as those shampoo commercials.  Enter the Balanced Guru Scalp Treatment.  This blend of oils includes spearmint, rosemary, basil, thyme, and eucalyptus essential oils and it leaves your scalp feeling ridiculously refreshed.  I was a little leery at first about rubbing oil into my scalp/hair because my fine hair tends to get greasy, especially in the summer.  But I was pleasantly surprised at how this treatment left my hair feeling soft and strong and not at all like an oil slick.  I use it about once a week now and I can say that I definitely notice a difference.

Everything Branded – Stainless Straw
If you haven’t heard the news lately, plastic straws are on the outs.  They aren’t good for the environment and they are quickly taking over our oceans and landfills.  Reusable straws are starting to get more attention and I liked that Love Goodly included one in this box.   It has a slight bend so it’s easier to drink from and it can easily fit in your purse to go wherever you might need.  Make sure you take the extra time to clean it regularly so nothing funny starts growing in there.  I used a cotton swab, but if you have a straw brush that will work too.

Dr. Rogers – Healing Balm
Products that multitask will always earn a spot in my home.  This healing balm from Dr. Rogers is great for skin and nails and it even helps with cuts and bruises.  My skin isn’t particularly dry in the summer, but there were a few times that I had some scrapes and this balm helped.  I’m interested to see if it works just as well on dry skin as the colder months start heading my way.

Axiology – Lipstick 
I’m not a regular lipstick person, but when I want to feel a little extra, I slap some on.  Luckily, I can put this Axiology lipstick on without worrying about weird chemicals that will dry out my lips as the day wears on.  The Love Goodly box comes in three shades and I got the Infinite which is a deep berry.  This shade will be perfect for fall and I just might wear lipstick more often.  While it kept my lips moisturized all day (a definite plus) the color did fade after eating and drinking.  But a quick reapply and I was good to go!

Hippeas – Vegan White Cheddar Snack
I’m pretty sure I could eat a bag of these every single day and never get tired of them.  I’ve seen the Hippeas brand at Whole Foods but never grabbed a bag… until now.  I don’t know what kind of magic the folks over there are Hippeas use to get these vegan cheddar puffs to taste so good, but I don’t care.  Not only are these snacks baked and not fried, they also have 3 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein per 1-oz bag.  Not too shabby for a little snack!

Previous Beauty Boxes have contained Hempz lotions, and I’ve really enjoyed them. Hempz lotions are enriched with pure hemp oil and plant extracts, which can help revive and rejuvenate tired skin. It’s a terrific after sun moisturizer. This Pink Pomelo and Himalayan Sea Salt moisturizer was a little too perfumey for me, but I’ve enjoyed their Fresh Coconut and Watermelon and Triple Moisture lotions in the past.

Loba Mane Styling Cream – $7.00 value
This cream does double duty as a leave-in conditioner and styling lotion. It’s formulated with coconut oil, buriti, tucuma, argan, jojoba, and sweet almond oil to nourish and protect your locks. It also combats frizz (which is essential in the humid summer months!), and locks in color. Because this is made with coconut oil, I’ve found that just a tiny dab will do ya. Using too much might weigh down your hair.

Dusty Girls Vegan Lip Shine – $14.00 value
I’m always excited when there is lip gloss in the Beauty Box, and so this lip shine was a happy addition this month. I received the color “Argyle Pink,” which is the perfect shade to compliment my complexion. It’s not too light, not to dark, and contains just the right amount of shimmer. Made with natural plant oils and waxes, it’s glides on smoothly and moistures.

Dermala Acne Pimple Patches – $10.00 value
Despite being 40-something years old, I still suffer from the occasional breakout, especially around that time of the month. I’ve been hearing good things about acne patches, have been wanting to try them. They’re small drug-free adhesive patches that are said to heal acne naturally by absorbing excess oil and pus. They are made with hydrocolloid, which protects blemishes for faster healing. I’m saving these patches for my next breakout.

Farmstead Apothecary Face Cream – $4.75 value
Made with just eight ingredients, this creamy moisturizer balances facial oils and clears up blemishes. It’s formulated with organic and non-gmo ingredients such as safflower oil, jojoba oil, vegetable emulsifying wax, radish root ferment, and vitamin E oil, and it reduces the signs of aging while hydrating the skin. It’s suitable for all skin types. My skin feels soft and smooth after using it for a week.

Food for Face Violet Cleansing Essence – $7.00 value
The scent of this rich and creamy cleanser reminds me of the creamsicles I enjoyed when I was little. After reading through the ingredients list, I was tempted to try a nibble, but I decided against it. It’s made with açai juice, blueberry fruit extract, coconut fruit, radish root ferment, oat kernel flour, beet root powder, sweet orange oil, and vanilla oil, so it really does sound good enough to eat. It’s full of phytonutrients that nourish and enrich the skin, leaving it softer and more luminous, and it’s perfect for sensitive skin, which I have. I will admit that it was a little difficult to use, as the bottle it came in is stiff, and the cleanser is a little thick. I had to use a small popsicle stick to coax it out of the bottle in order to wash my face with it, but I really did enjoy it.

Delizioso Skincare Bulgarian Rose Facial Elixir – $48.00 value
This luxurious facial serum is made with made with 100% pure steam-distilled fresh organic rose petals and a blend of natural, raw oils, such as rosehip, black currant, and maracuja. The formulation softens skin, both in appearance and texture, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Unfortunately, roses and I don’t get along, so I’ll be passing this along to a friend.

Toner can sometimes irritate my skin, do to their alcohol content, but fortunately, Akar Skin’s toning mist is alcohol-free. Made with rose flower water and natural extracts, this toning mist is formulated to protect skin from free radicals and help smooth fine lines and wrinkle. It’s great for a little afternoon pick-me-up, as well as for use after cleansing.

Glamour Dolls Gel Eyeliner – This ultra black gel eyeliner glides on smoothly and stays put all day. It’s easy to work with, so you effortlessly create any type of eye look you desire.

Franklin and Whitman Oak Lane Face Mask – To make a mask with this powder, you simply mix a little with enough water to make a paste. I love that it’s made with just a few simple ingredients, including raw cacao, turmeric, and activated charcoal. The cacao gives the mask a heavenly scent, and the activated charcoal will work to leave your skin feeling renewed and radiant. Turmeric will reduce inflammation and help reduce common skin problems such as acne and dark spots. You just need to leave the mask on for a few minutes, and it will work its wonders. It’s great for any skin type.

Dirty Lane Organic Coffee Scrub – I’m not a coffee drinker, but I do love the way it smells, so I’m kind of enamored by this scrub. It’s made with organic Arabica coffee, organic coconut oil, peppermint extract, and dried mint leaves, so it’s a great way to help you wake up and help you feel energized during your morning shower. The coffee in this scrub is known for stimulating the lymphatic system, while mint fights inflammation, and coconut oil moisturizes the skin. This scrub works well on both the body and face.

Anointment Rose Toner – This toner is made with rose flower water, alcohol-free witch hazel, plant extracts, and essential oils, and it’s formulated to delicately cleanse the skin while also moisturizing and refreshing. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Metallic Lip Tar – I’m a big fan of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, and I try to stop in their New York City store whenever I’m in the area. I’ve been using their Lip Tar for years, so I was excited to find a tube of a color I haven’t tried yet in this month’s Beauty Box. If you’re unfamiliar with Lip Tar, it’s simply liquid lipstick. It goes on like a gloss and then sets and stays put for hours. Really, it doesn’t wipe off after drinking cups and cups of my morning tea, and it still looks fresh after eating lunch. It comes in a tube with a brush, which makes it easy to mix or layer colors. I received the color “synth,” which is a pretty, shimmery rose gold. This color will be getting lots of wear this sping.

Cosmedica Illuminating Rose Gold Serum – Speaking of rose gold, this month’s Beauty Box also contained Cosmedica’s Illuminating Rose Gold Serum. This shimmery serum adds a light glow to the complexion. It can be worn under or over makeup on the high points of the face, or wherever you want to add a little bit of sparkle. It’s formulated with aloe juice, papaya, and pineapple, and it also hydrates and plumps skin.

Youth to the People Age Prevention Cleanser – Made with kale, spinach, and green tea, this cleansing gel is almost good enough to eat! The ingredients in this cleanser help to remove dirt and toxins while also protecting the skin from free radicals and environmental stressors. My face has felt soft and supple after washing with it. Not only do I love what’s in this little bottle, I also love what isn’t in it, as it’s free from parabens, added fragrances, sulfates, and phthalates.

Dr’s Remedy Enriched Nail Polish – This polish was formulated by podiatrists after noticing that many of their patients were suffering from brittle, discolored nails, which was caused by the harsh chemicals found in nail polish. This polish is formulated with wheat protein, tea tree oil, garlic bulb extract, lavender, and vitamins C and E to nourish nails. Of course it’s free of the nasty chemicals that are not only harmful to nails, but to the entire body, such as formaldehyde, toluene, and phthalates. I received the color “passion,” which is shimmery violet. It looks great on my toe nails, and I’m looking forward to sandal weather when I can show them off!

Karma Organic Nail Polish Remover Wipe – When you’re ready to remove your nail polish, this wipe from Karma Organic is ready to do the job. I’ve been using their nail polish remover for years, so I was happy to find this wipe in this month’s Beauty Box. Drug-store brand polish removers smells so awful that I’m sure I’m poisoning myself when I’m using the, but Karma Organic’s removers are non-toxic and non-carcinogenic. After using drug-store brands, my nails would always feel brittle and they’d start peeling or breaking, but not with Karma Organic! Their remover is soybean based, and it contains vitamin E to nourish nails. It is free of acetone, petroleum products, and other nasty ingredients. I love that they also offer this handy wipes, which are perfect for travel.

Art Naturals Konjac Facial Sponge Set – With this handy sponge duo, you don’t need to worry about facial cleansers, because konjac fiber is deeply cleansing on its own. Konjac fiber also helps to balance the skin’s pH levels while gently exfoliating. The white sponge is for every day cleansing, while the black sponge contains charcoal for weekly deep cleansing. My skin has felt smoother and more refreshed since I started using these nifty little sponges. The box even comes with a suction cup hook to make it easier to hang the sponges between uses.

Jivi Exfoliating Face Wash – This gentle exfoliating cleanser is formulated with such natural ingredients as aloe vera juice, grape seed oil, pineapple, and papaya. It also contains chickpea flour and Fuller’s earth to help pull toxins from the skin. I hadn’t heard of Fuller’s earth before, so I looked it up, and it’s known for it’s ability to absorb oil, dirt, and other impurities. That sounds great to me! My face has felt softer and fresher since I started using it.

Derma E Hydrating Night Cream – Thanks to the Vegan Beauty Box, Derma E has become one of my favorite skin care brands, so I was excited to find this cream in this month’s box. I love its fresh scent! It has a luxuriously smooth and creamy feel to it, and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy afterward. This cream is exactly what I need right now, as my skin gets crazy dry in the cooler months.

Saiva Relaxing Foot Balm – Not only does my face get crazy dry, but my feet do, too. This healing balm is just what my tired tootsies have been needing! It contains neem oil, calendula extract, cocoa butter, and avocado extract to sooth and heal dry, cracked skin. It’s also forumulated to help reduce any swelling, pain, or irritation in the feet, too This cream is so rich it almost seems to melt right into the skin. It also contains rosemary, peppermint, and lavender oils, which give it a fresh, minty fragrance.

Luscious Cosmetics Pout Maker Lip Contour Crayon – This creamy matte lip liner glides on smoothly. It’s great for contouring, or even filling in, your lips, and it stays put for hours. Thanks to argan oil, it moisturizes, too. I received the color “Perky,” which is a gorgeous dusty rose color that suits my skin tone perfectly.

It has a light, fresh scent, and my skin felt squeaky clean after using it.

Green Goddess Organics Lip Balm – Most people who go out into the sun with sunscreen on forget about the tender skin on their lips. Fortunately this organic beeswax-free lip balm contains broad spectrum, no-chemical SPF 30. It glides on smoothly and is water resistant for 80 minutes. It has a tasty orange-vanilla flavor, too.

Moon Souls Apothecary Lunar Soaks – Made with Dead Sea salt, ultra Epsom salt, lemon oil, eucalyptus oil, fresh mint, and dried roses, this handcrafted bath soak smells heavenly. For those that don’t have a bathtub, this “soak” can be used in the shower as an aromatic steam by placing it in a muslin bag and hanging it from the showerhead.

Leeanni Eco 3 in 1 Revolution Light – Although my bathroom cabinet is full of different toners and serums, I tend to use them only a few times, and then I abandon them and go back to using just a moisturizer. This skin cream acts as a toner, serum, and moisturizer all in one, so it saves time, money, and clutter. It’s great for both morning and evening use, so there’s no need to buy multiple bottles. It’s perfect for taking with you when you travel, because you only need to pack one bottle, rather than four. I have sensitive skin, so I’m always a little nervous about trying new creams, but I’ve been enjoying this product, which is made with natural ingredients that nourish the skin.

Green Tidings Natural Deodorant – I don’t have much luck with natural deodorants, as I tend to be kind of sweaty and stinky, especially in the summer months. Fortunately, Glad Tidings has come through for me, though. Made with coconut oil, sea butter, lavender oil, and other natural ingredients, this non-toxic, aluminum-free deodorant has left me dry and odor-free.

Terre Mère Cosmetics Mineral Bronzer – I’m pretty pale, so I tend to avoid bronzers, but I love the light, shimmery pink “Sunstone” color I received in this month’s box. It gives my skin a light, sun-kissed glow without the heavy, fake tan look comes with most bronzers. It’s made with minerals, so it doesn’t contain any the harsh chemicals that other bronzers contain, too.

It’s hard to believe that’s it’s almost June. It seems like just yesterday that I had the heat on the house, and I was cuddled up with blankets and a mug of warm herbal tea. Oh wait, it was yesterday. The weather has been wacky here, so it’s difficult to tell that time has passed, but since a new Vegan Cuts Vegan Beauty Box has arrived, I know that another month has come and gone.

You mix up the mask by adding a little water and then apply it to the affected area. Leave it on overnight for a few nights in a row, and then take a break for a week before using it again. It’s made with redmond clay, organic baking soda, and organic msm. 

Nubain African Black Soap – Black soap always reminds me of Annie Hall, and using it always makes me feel slightly exotic when I use it. Black soap has been used in Africa for centuries to minimize the appearance of skin blemishes and other skin ailments. This facial cleansing bar is formulated with sheal butter, oats, aloe, and cocoa pod ash in order to deep clean and detoxify the skin.

Lauren Brook Cosmetics Eye Shadow – This natural eye shadow is made with plant extracts, such as orange wax, broccoli seed oil, and jojoba oil. It goes on smoothly and lasts all day. I received Sweet Pea, which is pretty dusty pink color that’s perfect for summer.

Pair’D Beauty Dry Shampoo –  This dry shampoo isn’t actually dry. It’s actually a liquid that you spray onto your hair. You then dry your hair with a blow dryer on low, and style as usual. I’m saving this for my summer vacation.

Little Moon Essentials Clear Mind Mist – This spray contains rosemary, grapefruit, and eucalyptus oils in order to help energize and create mental alertness. It can be sprayed on clothing, on a tissue, or just in the air in a room. I’ve been using it in my home office, and I’ve definitely felt more productive.

Luxie Foundation Brush – A lot of cosmetic brushes are made with animal hair, but fortunately, Luxie makes theirs with synthetic bristles. This brush can be used with cream or liquid foundation and it gives you a polished, streak-free finish.
