Natural Escapes: Chic and Cruelty-Free

July 9, 2015 By Robin

FOOT_MASSAGE_CREAM_8OZ_largeIt wasn’t that long ago that cruelty-free options for your hair and skin were limited and relatively unappealing.  Thank goodness that is no longer the case.  Just visit the aisles of Whole Foods or browse the shops on Etsy, and you’ll find all sorts of lotions, shampoos and body tonics that claim they can make your skin glow and your hair shine.

In many ways, it can be too much.  There really are a lot of smaller retailers offering various products that, while the concept is good, may or may not be a good fit for you.  And without the mega-million dollar budgets to back them, it’s hard to figure out who is even going to be around for their loyal customers.  So, while we can’t guarantee success for a business, Chic Vegan is happy to help guide readers find natural, cruelty-free products that DO work and that MIGHT just be in it for the long haul.

Some of these products come from a company called Natural Escapes.  Made from organic olive oil and aloe vera, Natural Escapes products contain no petroleum by-products, no synthetics and no parabens and sulfites.  What does this mean to you?  It means you can be sure the products you are putting on your skin are good for you and for the environment.

The company’s product line is pretty extensive.  Shampoos and conditioners include Lavendar & Ylang Ylang, Peppermint & Rosemary, and Orange & Tangerine.   There are also body butters, face cleansers and creams, and lip scrubs and lip balms.

Peppremin-Foot-Scrub_grandeWe were given the opportunity to try a couple of the foot care products.  I’m a runner, so my feet do tend to take a beating and I was curious to see if I would notice a difference.  The Peppermint & Eucalyptus Foot & Body Scrub is grainy – like most scrubs are – but not overly abrasive.  And it smells divine!  I wasn’t able to magicly erase any super rough spots on my feet, but I suspect with time the scrub would do a good job in that area.

I admit I was a bit apprehensive when I opened the Peppermint, Rosemary & Eucalyptus Massage & Foot Cream.  It seemed more like a lotion, as it was a bit watery.  Then I read that it’s great for massage, and it really is.  I took my time and gave myself a little massage, enjoying the lovely smell of the cream.

I tried this duo out in the morning and went about my day.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that my feet were still soft at the end of the day.

As with most all-natural products, you will spend a bit more on Natural Escapes.  But it’s worth it, because your body is the most important thing you have and you should take care of it!  To get you started, Chic Vegan readers get a 20% discount on the Footcare Essential Package.  We tried it and we liked it, and you will too!
