Morgan Joyce is a vegan model who makes YouTube videos with her mother, where they both review cruelty free products. Recently, they have made a video shopping for low end, drugstore products that are vegan to show how easy it is to maintain veganism on a budget. What motivated you to become vegan and was it an overnight switch or more gradual shift?
I had been a vegetarian since I was 14 (I am now 21). Animals were my first passion in life. As soon as I realized what I was contributing to, I stopped eating meat. Sadly I was still uneducated on the horrors of the egg and dairy industry. I was ignorant, and thought that “cows needed to be milked,” etc. The internet opened up my eyes. I looked into veganism, and discovered how horrifying the truth really is. I felt like I lived a lie my entire life until I became vegan.
Tell me a little bit about your YouTube videos and what inspired you to create them.
I just felt like the world needed to know.
Walk me through a day in your life.
I wake up, cuddle with my dog for a little bit. Then take him for a walk, feed him, and do all the mommy things for him. I usually work every day, be it hair styling or modeling, so then I get ready for work! Afterwards, I come home and lay in bed online. Not a very interesting life!
What do you typically eat in the span of a day and are you a snacker?
I eat something different every night. My favorite is vegan mac n cheese, vegan mozzarella sticks, vegan ravioli, soy protein strips, french freis, and guacamole and chips. I used to be a super frequent snacker. But now I usually have one snack during the day, and maybe one before bed.
What is your favorite vegan indulgence?
Any of the delicious baked goods from the vegan bakery near me called Papa Ganache. And oreos, of course.
When people learn that you are vegan, what is the #1 question they ask and what is your response?
They usually ask “why?” And I say “For the animals.
What vegan product could you not live without?
There are too many. Everything I use is vegan so.. probably my Tarte Gifted Mascara, and french fries. And my Jason’s toothpaste.. because stank breath wouldn’t be cool.
In your wildest dreams what will your life look like in 5 years?
Well in my dreams it would be perfect. I’d live on my own, in my town, near my family. Have my own hair salon and animal sanctuary. Be a world-traveling model, and never have to worry about funds. I’d also have my own chain of vegan restaurants. But.. most likely, I’ll just be doing about the same as I am now.. which is great.
