Green Chef: Organic Delivery Service

May 1, 2017 By Katie Dawson

I’m pretty sure you can have almost anything delivered to your door.  This is both awesome and a little dangerous.  Great when you get to try new things like beauty products or get the things you normally have to go out and get yourself come right to you is awesome.  Getting takeout or delivery from any place?  A little dangerous.

Which is why I’m excited about Green Chef.  I’ve heard of delivery services like Blue Apron or The Purple Carrot that send both the recipes and ingredients to your door so you don’t have to do any of the shopping but I’ve never tried them before.  Honestly, I thought they might be a little too out there because I really don’t mind going to the grocery store.  But after trying Green Chef?  I get it.

Green Chef is great because they have six different meal plans that include vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian, omnivore, carnivore, and paleo.  The two-person plans come with three meals and you can also get a family plan that serves four people and come with 2 meals.  All the food is organic, non-GMO, and pesticide, antibiotic, and hormone free.

I got to try the vegan meal plan and got three delicious recipes: Italian Lentil Balls, Moroccan Cauliflower, and Brazilian Tempeh Moqueca.  My delivery came with every single ingredient I would need for each recipe, excluding things like olive oil and salt, and detailed recipe cards.  All the ingredients were color coded so you could match them to the correct recipe and they were portioned out so you didn’t have any waste.  I think that was one of my favorite parts!

All three recipes were great, but I think the big winner in our house was the Italian Lentil Balls with the Moroccan Cauliflower as a close second.  All the recipes were simple to make and didn’t require any fancy techniques.  Most of the prep and cooking was done in 30 minutes or less and all the recipes came out as intended.  I love that you get to keep the recipe cards so you can make them again if you want to try.

I think meal delivery services like this are great for busy people or those who don’t think they can cook.  For you busy folks, you don’t have to worry about grocery shopping or finding a recipe and the meals aren’t to0 labor-intensive.  For those of you afraid to cook, you get step-by-step instructions on how to do everything and you don’t have to worry about measuring or anything like that.

Green Chef also helps ensure you get a healthy meal instead of another night of delivery pizza or greasy take-out. Green Chef doesn’t lock you into a month-long plan either.  You can pick and choose the weeks you want to use the service and set up delivery times that work best for your schedule.  The boxes also come insulated and refrigerated so you don’t have to worry about the food spoiling.

Overall, I was impressed with the quality of food, the simplicity of the recipes, and how great everything tasted. I would recommend Green Chef to anyone who is interested in trying a meal delivery service without hesitation!
