13 More Amazing Vegan Winter Coats

November 16, 2010 By Mandi

This here is my 13 coat apology. Last week I accidentally included a coat filled with down on the 8 coat roundup. Eek! I try so hard to ensure that all of my suggestions and features are 100% cruelty-free, but like many other humans, I am flawed and sometimes miss a material or ingredient. I hope that you will forgive me and take this 13 coat post as an apology. These coats are gorgeous and affordable!

P.S> Thanks to my lovely readers for pointing out the perpetrating coat in the nicest way possible. You rock!

AMAZING post!! So helpful. I just recently bought a Vaute Couture coat this season after being stuck with a not-very-warm one for a couple winters. I got one of last season’s coats for 50% off, and while still a splurge, it was worth every penny! I love it!

That Knitted Dove Savannah Swing Plaid Coat is adorable!

The link for the “Keep Your Cowl Coat” doesn’t seem to work. Where can I find that coat?

I wonder if you have heard of Finisterre? My boyfriend just got a vest from them and swears by it (he’s always cold) and I’ve fallen in love with their women’s winter coat (on my chrissie list!) It’s a UK company and I liked the sound of it because they use recycled plastic and it keeps you 75% warmer than down when wet and they’re so light too – I hate the bulkiness of winter coats usually, it sometimes gives me a headache from the weight on my shoulders.

Thanks for letting me know about Finisterre, I had never heard of them. The Sastruga looks amazing!

Oh no! They either sold out of that coat or removed it 🙁 Juleselin has some coats that are similar: http://www.juleselin.com

Hi, I’ve been trying to go through your previous posts on vegan winter coats, but then realized it would probably make more sense just to ask: Have you seen any coats that are (1) at least knee-length, (2) hooded, (3) warm enough to withstand a NYC winter without very/too many layers, (4) made in XS or XXS, and (5) not faux anything?

Well, there is the Dorset Coat from Brooklyn Industries: http://www.brooklynindustries.com/women-outerwear/dorset-coat It has a faux fur hood trim, but it is detachable. That is the only one I can think of off-hand.

Check out ModCloth.com.. they have tons of vegan friendly coats. You have a good chance of finding your ideal one!

A few came close, but none of them were near long enough. Oh well. Thanks anyway!

Anything heavier like a real winter coat? I’m from Maine and Maine winter would chew these thin little coats up and spit them out. =/

Hmmmmm. Perhaps we will do a heavy winter coat round-up. Thanks for the idea!

Hi Kathy, The Winter Coat article is 4 years old and the author is no longer with Chic Vegan, so unfortunately I can’t answer your question. Good luck with your coat search!
