Chic Vegan contributor Andrea Rader lost 45 pounds after she went vegan, and she enjoys her healthy lifestyle.  As a mother, Andrea is very passionate about what foods are on the dinner table and in school cafeterias. For fun and exercise, Andrea likes to bike ride, hike, strength train, and visit the beach.

Chic Vegan:  How long have you been a vegan?

5 years. I became a vegan in May 2008.

Chic Vegan:  Who or what inspired you to make the change to a vegan lifestyle?

I read the book “Skinny Bitch” which blew me away. I became vegan along with my daughter, who was 6 years old at the time, after realizing the cruelty of animals being slaughtered and how bad the food was that I had been eating.

Chic Vegan:  If you could give someone who’s thinking of going vegan advice, what would you say?

I say go for it. Consider it a journey and an adventure. You’ll experience exceptional health benefits and lose extra pounds. Think of your reason why you want to try being vegan and hold that vision during your new journey.

Chic Vegan:  Let’s talk beauty. What’s your favorite cruelty-free product?
