Product Review: Eco Vessel BOULDER Triple Insulated Bottle

December 26, 2014 By Yifan

Eco Vessel BOULDERAs someone who is pretty particular about the temperature of her beverages, the search for the ideal water bottle has been a tricky one. As insignificant a dilemma as that might seem to many people, I carry bottle with me wherever I go—whether it’s to my full-time job in fitness, a concert, the supermarket, the movies, or bed.

The Eco Vessel BOULDER Triple Insulated Bottle is definitely a contender for that ideal water bottle spot. Let’s break it down:

Design/materials: The bottle is made of premium #304 stainless steel and is free of ever-icky BPA, phthalates, and liners. I love that this bottom essentially has two functional openings! If you unscrew the top cap, you have a small hole that is easy and convenient to drink from. If you prefer bigger gulps or want to drop fruit wedges, big ice cubs, tea bags, etc. into the bottle, the whole silver top comes off to reveal a bigger opening. I imagine the bigger opening would also be perfect when sipping hot soup or a cold smoothie!

Eco Vessel KidsAesthetics: This bottle looks sharp, with a matte finish covering the steel. It comes in a variety of solid colors with a not-too-flashy Eco Vessel logo near the bottom. The silver top has a handy loop for carrying the bottle around or clipping it to a bag. The stainless steel has thus far also stood up really well to wear and tear—most of the plastic and steel bottles I’ve had in the past have gotten scratch marks or small dents on them fairly quickly, but I’ve dropped this one a few times without a scratch. My inner klutz rejoices! It comes in two sizes: 17 oz bottle (pretty average size, which I own), and 25 oz.

Eco Vessel insulated sippyEffectiveness of Insulation (ability to maintain temperature of contents): Impressively enough, this bottle’s TripMax® triple insulation technology functions exactly as promised. I am quite sensitive to really hot beverages and had poured hot tea in the bottle before work one morning, thinking it would be lukewarm by the time I arrived at my office and ready for me to sip. Not so! The drink stayed piping hot all day… to the point where my wimpy mouth couldn’t even drink it until the very end of the workday. This is very nice to have if you can plan ahead and make sure to let the beverage cool a bit before pouring it into the bottle (unless, of course, you like your drinks extra hot!). I could see it being amazing on a winter hike. Furthermore, I have brought this bottle (this time filled with cold liquids) with me to teach an outdoor fitness class on several occasions. Even with sun exposure, my water stayed cold and ultra refreshing and crisp…the most rewarding thing after exercising outside on a hot day! According to the Eco Vessel site, the BOULDER is able to keep cold water at a fairly consistent temperature for up to 36 hours, and hot water up to 8 hours.

One neat little accessory that comes with the Eco Vessel BOULDER is a small tea strainer that fits underneath the smaller opening. This makes it easy for one to have tea, ice, fruit slices, or other flavor infusers safely in the bottle and away from your teeth.

Eco Vessel lunchboxThough it may not have a straw or suction top like some bottles, the Eco Vessel BOULDER Triple Insulated Bottle boasts a lot of other perks that make it great to have for both hot and cold situations. It’s awesome for people on the go with a variety of needs and beverage preferences, and I’d definitely recommend it. Looking for that bottle with a straw after all? Eco Vessel has several other products for both adults and kids, including several water bottle designs and snack and food containers. One last added bonus: Eco Vessel gives part of their proceeds to clean water organizations such as Water For People and The Unicef Tap Project!
