Cycle Chic – Looking Hot During Winter Biking

February 18, 2011 By Kristen

It’s easy to get excited about biking during the summer, you can wear any outfit your heart desires and you don’t  have to worry about bringing along extra gear and layers in the event of wet or ice-y conditions. It’s usually around this time of the year that you will tell yourself you are going start biking everywhere, all of the time, and you do for awhile! You are unstoppable! Then the seemingly endless winter months roll around and suddenly you’re making all sorts of very clever excuses as to why you won’t be riding your bike to class, or work that day.

A common excuse (and my absolute personal favorite) tends to involve not having the proper winter clothing for bicycling. It can get quite boring wearing the same North Face jacket and jeans day after day, and it’s enough to make a girl want to give up all together and just take the bus. But biking during the winter doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your unique sense of style or rely on animal products such as down, or wool to stay warm. Below are some ideas for the perfect winter cycling outfit to help stay committed to your summertime resolution.

Starting from the top left hand corner: Becky Dress from BB Dakota $27.50; Berkeley Helmet from Bern $49.98; Unisex Flannel Lined Rain Parka from American Apparel $120; Footless Tights from Maggies Functional Organics $22; Bright Stripes Cowl from CornFlowerBlueStudio $30;  Organic Messenger Bag from Pansy Maiden $150; Fingerless Gloves from KSCDesign $17.50; Kaveri Boot from Neuaura $81.25
