Book Review: The Art of Non-Conformity

November 3, 2010 By Mandi

Chris Guillebeau is in the process of traveling to every country in the world. He has never had a “real job” in his life.  He sleeps on airport floors, buys round-the-world plane tickets, and spends the rest of his time encouraging people to challenge the status quo and live a remarkable life.  Chris Guillebeau is my hero. He also wrote a book recently.

The Art of Non-Conformity is not a guide to non-conformity, because that would just be silly.  It is a book of ideas. Each chapter reminds us of the things we should be thinking about before we make life decisions. It reminds us that we don’t have to live life like everyone else. We have a choice.  After a lifetime of being conditioned to follow the masses and agree to things that may not be right for us as individuals, this book offers a refreshing perspective and attempts to shake us loose of the mold we have been pressed in.

Challenging authority, conquering fear, creating your own army, and legacy building are just a few of the topics covered in The Art of Non-Conformity. And just because you are a self-proclaimed “non-conformist” (most vegans are!)  does not mean that this book is not for you. There are many new ideas, words of encouragement and stories of people living their lives just like you. Not only does this book make a case for living against the grain, it reminds those that have chosen to that they are going to be just fine.

Go check out The Art of Non-Conformity on Amazon! And while your at it,  check out Chris Guillebeau’s site of the same name.

Hey Mandi! You're awesome — thanks so much for your kind review. PDX vegans/vegetarians are the best. 🙂
