Alka-White Alkaline Mouthwash Tablet

I’m going to start with my favorite product in this box.  Most of my life I never really thought about what was in my toothpaste or mouthwash.  I mean, I wasn’t eating it, so it didn’t really matter, right?  Wrong.  There can be some pretty nasty ingredients in these items and you’re sticking them in your mouth every day.  So I’ve started using better toothpaste and mouthwash full of natural ingredients.  These mouthwash tablets are AWESOME!  First of all, they cut down on waste with their packaging.  Second, they are full of naturally good for your teeth/mouth ingredients like turmeric and coconut oil.  Both of these ingredients help with inflammation and are anti-microbial.  Both great things for your mouth.  They also help whiten your teeth and help with sensitivity.  I’ve noticed a difference in the whiteness of my teeth and this is a product I will definitely keep using.

Delia Organics Creme de la Cream Body Whip

With summer and warm weather right around the corner, it’s time to think about lightening up your moisturizing options.  This body whip is extremely lightweight but still helps your skin stay soft.  I also love the cinnamon sugar scent.  I’ll be using this after long days in the sun to make sure my skin stays hydrated.

100% Pure Blur Bamboo Powder

I was really excited to try out this product.  It is meant to help your face have a smooth and even complexion.  Unfortunately for me, I felt like it really dried out my skin.  They say you can use it over makeup or alone.  I don’t ever wear foundation or heavy makeup, so maybe my bare skin was just a little too sensitive for it.  It did, however, make my complexion very even, so I did like that.

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Cocoa Butter Matte Lipstick

I did LOVE this lipstick from 100% Pure though.  I got the Aubergine shade (it also comes in Cacti and Sahara) and it was great.  The color was nice and rich plus it stayed in place all day even with eating and drinking.  It also did not dry out my lips like some matte lipsticks tend to do.  That might be because it’s made with cocoa butter, shay butter, and vitamin E.  I will definitely keep this for the very few times I wear lipstick!

Angie’s Boom Chica Pop

I always see this in the grocery store but never get it.  Until now.  I got the Sweet & Salty Kettlecorn flavor and I am now addicted.  It’s the perfect balance of salty and sweet plus it’s made with non-GMO popcorn, vegan, and certified gluten-free.

The Love Goodly box for February/March is filled with plenty of things to make sure you pamper yourself just as much as others.  Lucky me got to review this box and I can tell you now it was a good one.  Spoiler alert: there’s chocolate.

Aisling Organics Duel-Sided Luxe Shadow Brush – I know I get to review a beauty box every two months, but I am not a typical beauty person.  I don’t wear fancy make-up most days and when I do I watch countless YouTube videos to get it just right.  Don’t get me wrong, I love make-up, it’s just not one of my talents.  WHICH is why I love when Love Goodly includes some basic tools to get the job done.  I had one shadow brush before this and I’m pretty sure I got it in high school at the local drug store.  I figured one brush was as good as the next.  It is not.  This shadow brush is awesome and makes me look like I actually know what I’m doing when I put on eye shadow.  The fact that it’s cruelty-free and vegan is just the cherry on top.

Flower Mill Balm Shell – Normally I use makeup wipes to remove my makeup, so I was a little perplexed how a
balm was going to get my face free of all makeup.  Once again I have been shown the error of my ways.  This balm is made with essential oils like rosehip seed and lavender along with mango and shea butter.  It goes on like a dream and removes everything even better than my wipes.  Plus it hydrates my skin which is a definite plus during the colder months.

Zatik Gratitude Face Serum – Speaking of hydration, this face serum might be my favorite thing from this box.  We have had a few -20 degree days here in the Midwest (thanks Polar Vortex) and with this serum, I have not had to deal with dry, itchy skin.  It’s made with organic herbs, marine algae, and seaweed and it’s nontoxic, non-GMO, vegan, and cruelty-free.  If you have trouble skin, this is going to be your new best friend.

Sylveco Soothing Eye Cream – I’m going to start with my favorite product in the box.  I turned 31 in October and I’m starting to notice a few more fine lines that don’t just disappear with a shower in the morning.  I had started to look into eye creams and actually ran across Sylveco.  I liked that it was hypoallergenic and fragrance-free.  Luckily, I didn’t quite jump the gun because a few weeks later I got my Love Goodly box with this eye cream!  It is even better than I thought.  The cream isn’t greasy and it absorbs fast.  I put it on at night and wake up with younger looking eyes.  I know that sounds impossible, but it’s totally true.  This is a product I will definitely buy again.

Sylveco Soothing Eye Cream– Put this product in the category of “Didn’t Know I Needed Until I Used It”.  This quick fix spray is to help fight breakouts when you can’t wash your face after a workout or other sweaty endeavor.  It is made with simple ingredients such as witch hazel, tea tree oil, and lavender essential oil.  Usually, after I workout, I have to get right back to work and don’t get to shower right away.  I’ve noticed I get a little acne right along my hairline and jaw and didn’t realize it was because I was letting sweat and bacteria sit on my face.  Come on, Katie, wise up.  Thankfully a few spritzes of this spray and those bumps have started to go away.  I’ve even started spraying a little on my face right when I wake up.

ZSkin Pumped Lash Primer – I am lucky enough to have pretty long eyelashes, so I didn’t think this lash primer would do much for me.  It is made with ingredients to help your lashes grow longer and stronger, plush thicker.  I started using it and didn’t really notice much difference in growth BUT it does help my mascara stay in place longer, which is a definite boost.  If you struggle with short or thin lashes, this might be a great product for you.  But even if you don’t have that issue, it is a great primer for mascara.

Bee Magical Save the Bees Bracelet – I always love when my Love Goodly Box includes something fun like this bracelet.  This piece was made exclusively for Love Goodly and it’s made entirely of recycled materials.  Bee Magical is helping raise awareness for bees and trying to secure a safe future for these important creatures.

Subscription boxes — to me — are like that.  Sort of the upscale versions (way upscale, actually) of grab bags.  We aren’t really sure what we’ll get, and we always look forward to the surprise.  The difference is that we pay for subscription boxes, so we expect good surprises.  And that is usually what we get.

Tokibox

Tokibox is a monthly vegan subscription box that contains 5-7 items (some are full-size).   Each item is cruelty-free, eco-friendly and non-toxic.  With a focus on small businesses (local to New York City, but also throughout the United States), you can try food, beauty and other items knowing they’ve been vetted against these criteria and passed the test.

According to the website, the name Toki comes from the Korean word for rabbit, which we easily associate with cruelty-free products.  As with many subscription boxes, you can choose the month-to-month plan ($34.95 per month for this option), or commit to a longer plan and save a bit (the 3-month plan is $32.95 per month and the 6-month plan is $29.11 per month).  There are also a few items you can buy individually on the website.

September Back to Basics Essentials Box

I received the September Back to Basics Essentials Box.  This included a nice variety of goodies, including a scrub, a nut milk bag (I can always use another one of those), a latte mix, Nibmor cocoa, a lovely-smelling sage bundle, and some chips from Vegan Rob’s.  My favorite item was the Vanilla Bean and Espresso Granola from Wildway.  I’ve had this before, so I knew what to expect, but I do highly recommend it.  Its a soft, grain-free granola that is super yummy.

It was a great mix of goodies and fit the monthly theme of getting back to the routine of school or work after summer.

The packaging was very sweet and the box included a card with a little description of each item and what I assume was the value of the item if purchased separately.

As with any subscription box, you may not always like what you get.  I subscribe to a couple of boxes and sometimes I’m not thrilled with one of the items.  So, I just give it away.  It doesn’t go to waste and that little gesture can bring a smile to someone’s face.  But if you are interested in trying new products on a monthly basis, Tokibox might be a good fit for you.

The February-March box included some pretty awesome things.  My favorites had to be the hand-woven scarf and the cream luminizer.  There was also a roll-on essential oil stick and facial moisturizer.

The Marquet Fair Trade Ton Fai Open Weave Scarf was made in Thailand and every step was done by hand.  You can choose from one of eight different colors or be surprised!  I got the Zebra pattern and it goes with pretty much everything!

Orglamix Cream Luminizer was my second favorite product, which is surprising because I have never used any product like this before.  The Luminizer is a cream highlighter that adds a nice glow to your complexion.  I love that it isn’t greasy or heavy and it doesn’t make me look like I’m wearing roll-on glitter like I may have back in the 90’s….

Orglamix also included their Sunshine Oil which is a blend of essential oils including grapefruit, sweet orange, mandarin, lemon, and lime peel.  It’s seriously like sunshine in a bottle.  We haven’t had much sunshine in Chicago this January and blend of citrus in this oil is very uplifting.  It’s also a great way to hydrate your skin and available exclusively to Love Goodly.

Finally, YUNI Organic Active Calm Moisturizer was also a part of this box.  This moisturizer is non-toxic, vegan, and cruelty-free.  It helps with elasticity and while it was a little greasy, it was still lightweight and didn’t feel too goopy.  I wouldn’t use this every day, but in the harsh winter months, it’s very helpful.

Ok, I am not a huge lipstick person, I prefer lip balm/gloss, but I LOVE this lipstick.  It is the perfect color and goes with pretty much any outfit, which was awesome for the holidays.  This lipstick is also certified vegan, vee-free, gluten-free, and chemical free.  It’s made with natural oil and waxes that make your lips look and feel great.  I’m definitely going to check out their other products after trying this lipstick.

hellomellow Balance Body Butter
During the winter, I usually have super dry hands.  Not anymore!  This body butter is an amazing blend of avocado and mango butter scented with essential oils like bergamot, chamomile, and orange.  It smells heavenly and makes even the driest skin soft and smooth.  It also is made with all natural ingredients, and cruelty-free.  This body butter isn’t just for dry skin but you can put it on stretch marks, scars, sunburns, calluses, and even use it on the ends of your hair if it’s super dry!  Talk about an overachiever!

Deux Lux Sequin Cosmetic Bag
How did Love Goodly know I needed a new makeup bag?  My old one was falling apart at the seams and this cosmetic bag was a welcome surprise in the box.  It’s super cute in silver sequins, has tons of room and it is made with all vegan materials.  Now I have an adorable place to store all my new Lippy Girl products!

Auromere Ayurvedic Toothpaste
Do you ever really think about all the things that are in your toothpaste?  Probably not.  I just want to make sure my teeth are clean and my breath is fresh.  I can honestly say that I have never thought about the ingredients in my toothpaste.  So when I saw this toothpaste in the box, I was intrigued.  I was a little doubtful that it could do as good a job as my regular toothpaste but I was glad that I was proved wrong!  This toothpaste is made with all-natural botanical extracts and essential oils and leaves you with a fresh clean feeling.  It also has no fluoride, gluten, artificial sweeteners, dyes, or harsh chemicals.  Oh, and, of course, it is vegan and cruelty-free!

Hello Gorgeous Toothbrush
What good would toothpaste be without a new toothbrush?  I love this bamboo toothbrush that is a much more eco-friendly option when compared to plastic toothbrushes.  Most toothbrushes end up in the garbage and that plastic doesn’t decompose so it ends up sitting in a landfill for years and years.  Not this toothbrush!  It is made with bamboo and other natural ingredients and features a wave-shaped design that can reach difficult spots in your mouth.  It cleans just as well as regular toothbrushes while being environmentally conscious!

I am a huge fan of the Love Goodly box subscription.  They introduced me to some awesome products that I will definitely be trying again.  I also really like that each month’s box supports a different cause.  The December/January box supports Farm Sanctuary.
